Micromax Canvas 3 Expected Specs,Quad Core MediaTek MT6589,JellyBean:

Micromax will release a quad core beast in this quarter. We might see the phablet in January. This is possibly the best smartphone Micromax is working on. Currently, in a TV Ad Micromax is asking you wait for a while to experience outstanding quality music. I am not sure whether it’s the rumored Canvas 3 or some other handset with dedicated SRS WOW sound enhancement. But I guess it’s the Canvas 3 they are focusing now. Witnessing the success of Canvas 2 phablet Micromax must be looking to introduce some quality hardware in this one. It’s almost certain that it will be a quad core smartphone running MediaTek’s brand new MT6589 SoC. I just have gone through the specs of Alcatel One Touch Scribe HD. It looks like most of the features of the droid will be there in Micromax Canvas 3.
Out of the box Android 4.1.2 JellyBean is also confirmed. Micromax never bother to release official ROM upgrade. Therefore, if it does not pack JellyBean out of the box it will run ICS all the way. ICS is exciting, gaming is superb, app compatibility is outstanding. But it’s always a nice feeling to have the latest version of OS in a smartphone. Hopefully, Micromax Canvas 3 will have 1 GB of RAM to exploit. Currently available Canvas 2 is superb. It runs most of the recent games i.e. NFC Most-wanted, MC3, GTA 3 etc  but with 1 GB RAM and better GPU Canvas 3 will increase the level of multitasking for even better gaming.
MediaTek MT6589 SoC shows off 28 nm processor architecture where 4 Cortex A7 CPU cores are coupled with PowerVR SGX544 GPU. For gamers its a good news that PowerVR SGX544 is better than SGX531.  Here are some of the features of MediaTek MT6589-

MediaTek MT6589 Specs

  • Architecture: ARM Cortex A7, 28 nm
  • CPU Cores: 4

Qualcomm already announced quad core MSM8226 and the MSM8626 chips based on ARM Cortex A7 28nm architecture. This processor cores resemble Cortex A15 but not as powerful as Cortex 15. You can see Cortex A15 in upcoming Samsung Galaxy S4 where Exynos 5440 SoC will be there combining 4 Cortex A15 processor cores and Mali-658T GPU. Lesser battery life will be the major drawback of Cortex A15 architecture. On the other side, Cortex A7 is the most power-efficient processor core ARM have launched so far. It saves 5 times more power but at the same time delivers better performance.

The following video clearly suggests the edges of Cortex A7 cores-

As you already know MediaTek MT6589 is best for low-cost handsets. You must not compare this with other high-end chips i.e. Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro, NVIDIA Tegra 3/4, Exynos 4412 Quad. Engadget made a comparison between all major SoCs and MTK6589 is failing behind rest of the quad SoCs. Samsung Galaxy S3 runs Exynos 4412 Quad costs Rs. 35,000, HTC One X runs NVIDIA Tegra 3 costs Rs. 35,000. LG Nexus 4, HTC Droid DNA runs Qualcomm Snapdragon S4. Samsung Galaxy Note 2 runs Exynos 4412 Quad that costs Rs. 36000. Then you must not expect similar performance from MTK6589. Isn’t it?
